Jackson prepares for lane closures on East Main Street

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Jackson will begin a sidewalk installation project on East Main Street on Aug. 18, resulting in periodic partial lane closures through Nov. 18.

The project, which aims to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility, will take place between Bellevue Street and Shawnee Boulevard. One lane will remain open to traffic.

The construction will include grading, retaining walls, handicap ramps and crosswalks, and the installation of a new concrete sidewalk.

Traffic control measures, including signage and flaggers, will be in place to assist drivers and pedestrians. Motorists can expect minor delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

Pedestrian and bicycle access will be maintained, but detours may be necessary during certain phases of construction.
