Jackson R-2 Schools announce program details for IGNITE program

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) – Jackson R-2 Schools are paving a path to student success through new IGNITE Program.

Program details were announced at the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce Business Breakfast where it was explained that the program is a profession-based learning program offered at Jackson Highschool to give students the opportunity to explore many different career options.

According to the district the program is part of the national Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) network.

55 Jackson Students applied and were interviewed, 30 students were chosen to participate.

Saint Francis Healthcare System has partnered with Jackson R-2 School District to provide a clinical classroom experience.

Students interested in education related careers will be placed in classrooms of current Jackson R-2 teachers as part of a ‘grow your own’ program.

Additionally, Jackson R-2 School will partner with Southeast Missouri State University to offer college courses through the IGNITE CAPS Program.

The program is designed to give students real-life hands-on experience before entering into the workplace.

Jackson R-2 teacher Ashley Raney will serve as the coordinator for career learning of the IGNITE CAPS Program.

As coordinator she will oversee the programs development and success.
