JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Jackson has received the Missouri Blue Shield designation for 2026, recognizing its commitment to public safety and law enforcement partnerships.
The designation, awarded by the Missouri Department of Public Safety, honors communities that invest in law enforcement and work to reduce crime while strengthening community relationships.
Officials said the program was created in 2025 and requires communities to apply annually to maintain the designation. Communities selected may be eligible for grant funding to support law enforcement training and equipment, pending state budget approval.
City leaders said the recognition reflects ongoing efforts by the Jackson Police Department to enhance public safety through initiatives such as officer recruitment, body-worn camera programs and participation in regional task forces.
The department is also accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, a national organization that sets professional standards for public safety agencies.
