Jackson woman dies after crash in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A Jackson woman died after a crash in Cape Girardeau on Thursday, May 25.

Janice Unger, 81, of Jackson was driving a 2020 Buick Envision westbound on Broadway at West End.

Raven Thomas, 29, of Cape Girardeau was driving a 2016 Dodge Journey northbound on West End approaching Broadway.

Cape Girardeau police say Thomas drove through the intersection with a green light as Unger drive through the intersection with a red light.

Unger’s vehicle struck the back passenger side of the vehicle Thomas drove as it went through the intersection.

Unger’s vehicle then struck a retaining wal on the northwest side of the intersection.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department reconstruction team continues to investigate.
