Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy awarded Medal of Valor

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (KBSI) – A Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy was honored with a Medal of Valor from the 100 Club of Illinois on Wednesday in Springfield.
The award was given to Deputy Devin Elliott for his heroic actions on June 9, 2023, when he responded to an officer-involved shooting on Interstate 64.
He took care of injured ISP Sgt. Boguslaw Kramarz.
Deputy Elliott had been previously awarded Deputy of the Year for the same actions.
Sgt. Kramarz survived. He was also an award recipient with the other officer involved in the shooting, ISP Trooper Timothy Harper.
Several employees of the city of Centralia were also recognized for their heroic actions that saved a life during a house fire.
