Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office creates civilian assistance plan

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — Sheriff Bullard has announced the creation of a Civilian Assistance Plan (CAP), a major disaster plan designed to provide aid and restore order in the event of a catastrophic emergency.

The plan was developed in collaboration with the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency and the Amateur Radio Club of Mt. Vernon.

Residents of rural Jefferson County have received a mailing explaining the plan, which is intended to provide a framework for community response and recovery in the event of a disaster that overwhelms local government resources.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that there is no immediate need for concern or action, and that the plan is simply a precautionary measure.

Training sessions have been offered to participants, and future sessions are planned.

Residents with questions about the plan are encouraged to contact Sheriff Bullard directly via phone or in-person at his office.
