VIENNA, Ill., (KBSI) – As the holiday season approaches, local schools and law enforcement are teaming up to ensure every family in Johnson County can celebrate Thanksgiving with a full table.

SRO Carl Manley and ALOP Student Advocate Julie Manley have announced the launch of “Stuff the SRO Cruiser,” a Thanksgiving food drive aimed at collecting donations to fill baskets for families in need across the county.

The initiative comes at a time when many residents are struggling to meet basic needs, with several families recently losing their SNAP benefits.

The effort includes participation from Buncombe Grade School, Cypress Grade School, Goreville Grade School, Goreville High School, New Simpson Hill, Vienna Grade School, and Vienna High School, with each school challenging its clubs, organizations, and classrooms to join in supporting the cause.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has also joined the initiative to help spread kindness, hope, and thankfulness throughout the community.

“Together, we can make this Thanksgiving a reminder of what community truly means — neighbors helping neighbors and spreading generosity where it’s needed most,” said the Manleys in a joint statement.

Donations collected through Stuff the SRO Cruiser will directly benefit families in Johnson County.
