PERRYVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) – Perry County has been selected as one of only four recipients of the 2025 Missouri Association of Counties (MAC) County Achievement Award, the county announced Monday. The award was presented Nov. 24 during the MAC Annual Conference in Osage Beach.
The County Achievement Awards honor innovative and highly replicable county programs that demonstrate effective problem-solving, collaboration, responsible budgeting and measurable results. Applicants outline the challenges faced, solutions created, financial impacts and overall outcomes.
Perry County received the award for its submission highlighting the construction of the Perry County Joint Justice Center (PCJJC). The MAC Award Committee praised the project for its strong collaboration between Perry County and the City of Perryville and for its coordination across multiple county departments.
The Joint Justice Center consolidates several independent agencies into one shared facility, serving as a unified hub for law enforcement, judicial functions, emergency management and public safety. The committee noted that the project reflects the county’s slogan, “Stronger Together,” and delivers operational, logistical and safety efficiencies that were not previously possible.
According to MAC, the Justice Center will enhance service delivery and strengthen the long-term effectiveness of the county’s justice and emergency systems, benefiting residents for generations.
Presiding Commissioner Mike Sauer, District 1 Associate Commissioner Jay Wengert, District 2 Associate Commissioner Keith Hoehn, Treasurer Katie Schemel and Collector Dena Preston accepted the award on behalf of Perry County.
