Juvenile arrested after shots fired in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — A juvenile was taken into custody Sunday night after allegedly firing multiple shots at a vehicle in Cape Girardeau.
According to the Cape Girardeau Police Department, officers responded around 10:15 p.m. to the 700 block of William Street after receiving reports of shots fired. Officers in the area also heard the gunfire, and the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system confirmed the location.
Police said officers found evidence that shots had been fired and spoke with a victim who reported seeing a juvenile the victim knew pull a handgun from his waistband and fire at the victim’s vehicle.
Officers later went to a residence in the 800 block of William Street to contact the juvenile. After several unsuccessful attempts, investigators obtained a search warrant for the home.
During the search, officers located the juvenile suspect and recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
The juvenile was taken into custody and turned over to the Cape Girardeau County Juvenile Office.
Police said no injuries or property damage were reported, and no other arrests have been made.
