Juvenile arrested after shots fired incident, threat against officer in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — A juvenile was arrested after police responded to a report of shots fired early Wednesday morning in Carbondale.
According to the Carbondale Police Department, officers were called to the 500 block of South Beveridge Street at approximately 12:24 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
Investigators determined a suspect who was part of a group of juveniles allegedly fired shots at a residence before the group fled the area on foot. Police said the residence sustained minor damage.
During the investigation, a 16-year-old Carbondale male allegedly threatened to kill one of the responding officers and resisted attempts to take him into custody. Officers detained the juvenile after a brief struggle.
Police said the juvenile was also found in possession of suspected cannabis.
The juvenile was arrested on charges of aggravated assault of a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and possession of cannabis. He was later released to a parent pending a court appearance.
No injuries were reported.
