Juvenile arrested in connection with shots fired in Sikeston
SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — A 14-year-old juvenile was arrested Monday after shots were fired in the 1300 block of West Murray Lane, authorities said.
The Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 5:26 p.m. and witnesses reported shots were fired from a gold Chevrolet Malibu.
A 13-year-old juvenile sustained minor injuries, but it’s unclear if they were caused by the shots fired or while fleeing.
FLOCK license plate readers helped identify the suspect vehicle, which was registered to a resident of Morehouse, Missouri.
Deputies in New Madrid County stopped the vehicle on Highway 60, and a loaded 9mm handgun was recovered.
The juvenile suspect was taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
