Kayakers rescued from flood waters

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – Several kayakers had to be rescued from flood waters.

According to the Marshall County Rescue Squad at approximately 2:10 pm today November 11, 2024, Marshall County Rescue Squad was paged out to the area of Benton Briensburg Road, which is currently experiencing flooding conditions, for reports of kayakers that had overturned while floating through debris.

Marshall County Rescue Squad arrived and deployed a Pond boat due to shallow but swift water to make a rescue of 3 kayakers.

While deployed another rescue was needed for a citizen that jumped in to try to help.

Marshall County Rescue Squad says they are very fortunate that this was the outcome due to so much debris being present and fast-moving water the results could have been very different.
The kayakers were not wearing any type of Personal Flotation Devices.

All rescued were seen by Marshall County Ambulance Service.

Marshall County Rescue Squad asks that you please stay out of flooded areas as water is moving fast and unknown debris is in area and they urge people to wear
a life jacket when kayaking and be prepared for worst case scenario.

Marshall County Rescue Squad was assisted on scene by Fairdealing-Olive Fire District, McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, South Marshall Fire Department, and East Marshall Fire Protection District.
