JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KBSI) — Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe said early Wednesday that a second Christian County deputy was killed overnight while pursuing the suspect accused of fatally shooting Deputy Gabriel Ramirez.
In a statement, Kehoe said he was grateful for the collaboration among local law enforcement agencies, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and federal partners in apprehending the suspect.
Kehoe called the incident a “solemn reminder” of the sacrifices law enforcement officers make to protect their communities.
The governor said he and his wife, Claudia, are praying for the families of both deputies who were killed, the officers who were injured and the broader Southwest Missouri law enforcement community.
