KENNETT, Mo. (KBSI) – The Kennett Fire Department responded Tuesday morning to a mutual aid request from Rector, Arkansas, following a fire in the city’s downtown district.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story commercial building fully engulfed in flames. The structure housed a flower shop on the first floor and the former Masonic Lodge on the second.
“Our thoughts are with the flower shop owner and the citizens of Rector as they grieve the loss of another historic building in their community,” said Kennett Fire Chief Paul Davis.
Chief Davis also noted the strong show of community support in Rector, with residents providing snacks and drinks and local businesses offering restroom access to first responders.
“In times of need, our communities always come together—and that does not go unnoticed,” Davis said.
