Kennett issues burn ban amid dry conditions, fire risk

KENNETT, Mo., (KBSI) – A citywide burn ban has been issued in Kennett due to ongoing dry conditions and elevated fire risk.
Fire Chief Lance Davis, in coordination with Mayor Jake Crafton, announced the ban Wednesday. It prohibits the open burning of yard debris, trash, bonfires and other open pit fires within city limits.
“These conditions create a very high risk for fires to spread quickly and endanger both people and property,” Davis said. “We are asking all residents to comply with the ban until conditions improve.”
Violations are subject to penalties under city ordinance. The ban will remain in effect until further notice, officials said.
