Kenny Rogers Children’s Center begins new project involving teens

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – Leaders at the Kenny Rogers Children’s Center started a new project involving teenagers.

The center kick-started a new small business boutique to employ late-teens and young adults with disabilities.

The new business venture was founded as a way for older patients to feel like they are contributing. To kick off the holiday season, those employed will design and sell Christmas shirts and sweatshirts.

“A lot of times I think kids struggle emotionally and physically with ‘What can I do? What is there for me out there? And so like I said, we’ve always kind of wanted to do a little boutique shop. Hopefully this is something that will grow where we can continue to offer additional products and possibly services,” said Michelle Fayette, executive director of the Kenny Rogers Children’s Center.

The deadlie to purchase a shirt id December 12. More information can be found by emailing mdockins@kennyrogerscenter.org.
