Kentucky awards $749,000 in grants to support tech companies, job growth

KENTUCKY (KBSI) – Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced Thursday that seven innovative companies in the state will receive nearly $750,000 in state matching grants to support high-paying jobs and boost the state’s technology sector.
The $749,964 in grants, part of the commonwealth’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer matching funds program, will match $4.69 million in federal grants the businesses will collectively receive [1).
“Creating an economy that remains successful in the future starts with the initiatives we are taking today,” Gov. Beshear said. “This program allows us to invest in the resources that these startup tech companies need to succeed and create high-wage jobs for Kentuckians.”
The seven companies awarded matching funds are working on various projects, including:
– New Global Systems for Intelligent Transportation Management Corp. in Paducah, which is developing a platform for ride-sharing services for individuals with disabilities and those in rural areas.
– Health care and cybersecurity technology advancements
– Ride-sharing improvements for individuals with disabilities
These grants are part of Kentucky’s efforts to grow its technology sector and create high-paying jobs across the state.
