Kentucky deputy charged with harassment

BENTON, Ky., (KBSI) — A Marshall County deputy has been charged with harassment following a Kentucky State Police investigation.

James Steven Oakley, 47, of Benton, was served with a summons July 14, stemming from allegations that he sent inappropriate messages to juvenile female students at Marshall County High School.

The investigation began May 14 after the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office requested KSP to look into the allegations against Oakley, a school resource officer.

A grand jury found probable cause to indict Oakley on the harassment charge July 11.
