Kentucky deputy dies weeks after line-of-duty shooting

FRANKFORT, Ky. (KBSI) — A western Kentucky sheriff’s deputy has died weeks after being shot in the line of duty, Gov. Andy Beshear said.

Crittenden County Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Coyle died after succumbing to injuries he sustained in an early April shooting, Beshear said in a statement.

“Deputy Coyle sacrificed everything protecting our commonwealth, and we are forever grateful to him,” Beshear said, asking for prayers for the deputy’s family and fellow officers.

No additional details about the shooting were immediately released.
