Kentucky Deputy Jailer arrested for inappropriate relationship with inmate

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) — A deputy jailer in McCracken County has been arrested after authorities discover he had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female inmate and provided her with unauthorized items.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office said it was notified the evening of April 9 by Chief Deputy Jailer Stephen Carter, who requested an investigation into the allegations.
A detective with the sheriff’s office immediately began interviews with the inmate involved and the deputy jailer who was suspected of having an inappropriate relationship with the inmate.
The investigation discovered that 27-year-old Tyler Hamlet, of Eddyville, did engage in sexual contact with the inmate and gave her items that he was not allowed to give her, officials say.
Hamlet was arrested and charged with first degree sexual abuse, second degree official misconduct, and second degree promoting contraband. He was booked into the Marshall County Jail.
