JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — Jackson Purchase Distillery will introduce its bourbon in Missouri during the William J Wines Bourbon in the Park event in Jackson.

The Kentucky distillery’s first shipment to Missouri crossed the Mississippi River aboard the Dorena-Hickman Ferry on Friday. The bourbon is being delivered to Jackson for the tasting event.

Bourbon in the Park is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Jackson Band Shell, 850 Symphony Lane.

Craig Beam, master distiller at Jackson Purchase Distillery, said it marked the first time he had taken the company’s bourbon across the river into Missouri.

“It’s very exciting,” Beam said. “This is my first time going across the ferry, and you take your bourbon across to Missouri. It’s exciting.”

Head Distiller Terry Ballard said the company is excited to expand beyond Kentucky.

“We just love the idea that people are loving our bourbon so much, and Missouri wants it,” Ballard said.

The distillery also plans to send bottles to an event in St. Louis in October.

Tickets for Bourbon in the Park are available through Eventbrite. The event is limited to people 21 and older.
