Kentucky flags to fly half-staff Thursday in honor of fallen soldier

FRANKFORT, Ky., (KBSI) – Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state buildings to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, March 27, in honor of Specialist Chaz R. McGowan, a Kentuckian who died while serving on active duty in the U.S. Army in Germany.
McGowan, of Casey County, died March 8 in Grafenwohr, Germany, while assigned to the 2nd Cavalry Regiment. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Cemetery in Liberty.
Beshear encourages all individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
