Kentucky man faces additional charges in mail theft case
CALLAWAY COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — UPDATE: Austin Jones, 29, of Murray, Kentucky, faces additional charges following his initial arrest on December 18, 2024.
Jones was initially arrested after deputies responded to reports of an unmarked vehicle tampering with mailboxes in the Panorama Shores area of Calloway County. He was found to have accessed over 12 mailboxes, removing packages and letters [1).
A search warrant executed at Jones’ residence yielded multiple items from other victims, as well as weapons. As a result, Jones was served with additional charges on January 21, 2025, including:
– Possession of Stolen Mail: 10 additional counts (Class D felony)
– Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon: (Class D felony)
Jones was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center following his initial arrest and again after the additional charges were served.
