Kentucky power outages decrease as relief efforts ramp up

KENTUCKY (KBSI) — Utility crews made significant progress Friday, reducing power outages from 100,476 to 83,338.

Gov. Andy Beshear urged residents to check on their neighbors and offer support to those in need.

The governor spoke with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, FEMA officials and the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs to coordinate relief efforts.

A situational report was shared with the White House, and the governor spoke with local leaders in affected communities ahead of a visit to survey damage.

The governor vowed to secure necessary support for recovery and rebuilding efforts following the devastating weather.
