MOREHEAD, Ky. (KBSI) — The Kentucky Public Service Commission will hold the first of six public meetings on nuclear energy Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. at the Morehead State University Space Science Center.
PSC Chair Angie Hatton said recent technological advances have made nuclear energy potentially more affordable and attainable, but the technology remains costly.
“We want to make sure we examine all angles of this potential power source, including its impact on ratepayers, electric grid reliability, our environment, economic development and our workforce in Kentucky as we explore our options,” Hatton said in a statement.
The meetings are intended to gather input from residents, businesses, academic representatives and local officials on nuclear power generation. Additional meetings will be held in communities across the state.
