Kentucky State Police investigate trooper-involved shooting in Warren County

BOWLING GREEN, Ky., (KBSI) — The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating a trooper-involved shooting in Warren County.

The incident occurred Monday around 2:45 p.m. CDT in a wooded area near Interstate 165 and Sweeney Road, police said.

According to preliminary findings, troopers responded to a collision on I-165 southbound and encountered a man, identified as Gregoria Lopez, 24, of Olive Hill, Ky., who was allegedly trying to steal vehicles.

Lopez fled into the woods, and at least two troopers discharged their firearms. Lopez was not struck and was arrested. He was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

No other injuries were reported, and Lopez faces pending charges. The investigation is ongoing.
