Kentucky State Police make arrest after shooting of Tennessee State Highway Patrol Trooper

PRINCETON, Ky. (KBSI) — Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 2 troopers arrested a man early Sunday morning after a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper was shot.

Blaze Rucker was arrested early Sunday morning at a home in Princeton, Ky.

The arrest was in reference to the July 19 shooting of Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Adam Cothron in Putnam County, Tenn.

Trooper Cothron conducted a traffic stop on I-40 at mile marker 285 near the Burgess Falls exit. Two males were in the vehicles.

Trooper Cothron was shot and the suspects left in the vehicle. Trooper Cothron was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where he is in stable condition.

Braze Rucker, 29, was identified as one of the people in the vehicle.

The THP and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation obtained warrants for his arrest.

Troopers found and arrested Rucker inside a home in Princeton at 3:13 a.m.

KSP was assisted by the ATF, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Hopkinsville Police Department.
