MAYFIELD, Ky. (KBSI) — Kentucky State Police Post 1 reported increased traffic enforcement activity over the weekend as warmer weather brought more travelers to western Kentucky, especially around lake areas.

According to KSP, troopers conducted at least 97 traffic stops between 4 p.m. Friday, May 15, and 2 a.m. Monday, May 18.

The agency said the stops resulted in 86 traffic citations, two arrests and 39 courtesy notices. Troopers also conducted two traffic safety checkpoints and two saturation patrols during the weekend.

In addition to traffic enforcement, troopers responded to 43 calls for service, attended four school graduation events and served an arrest warrant for first-degree solicitation of sodomy.

KSP officials reminded drivers to buckle up, avoid distracted driving and never drive impaired.

Post 1 is currently participating in several highway safety campaigns, including Operation C.A.R.E., the 6-State Trooper Project and Click It or Ticket.
