Knoxville man injured in moped crash in Mayfield

MAYFIELD, Ky. (KBSI) — A Tennessee man was injured after crashing a moped in Mayfield on the Fourth of July.

Mayfield police responded to the intersection of North Seventh Street and East Lee Street on July 4 for a reported injury crash.

Officers identified the rider as 36-year-old Russell Massengill II of Knoxville, Tennessee. He was found with multiple abrasions, and Mayfield EMS responded to treat his injuries.

According to witnesses, Massengill was traveling north on North Seventh Street when his moped struck the sidewalk near East Lee Street. He was thrown from the moped and hit his head on the pavement.

Massengill was taken to Baptist Health Paducah for additional treatment.
