Kokopelli Golf Club hosts Second Annual Tee Off for Nub Kids Golf Scramble for Nubability

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – Sam Kuhnert, executive director and co-founder of the Nubability Athletics Foundation, said that for the golfers participating in Sunday’s Tee Off for Nub Kids Golf Scramble at Kokopelli Golf Club, they are making an investment in change.

“They’re investing in these kids and investing in these kids’ courage and confidence not only for their time through sport, but for the rest of their life,” he said. “Any of these kids, the impact they have from our program, they then bring to every single person they interact with the rest of their lives, so they’re truly investing in change in our world.”

One of the golfers who took part in the scramble, Brad Vinyard, is also the head strength and conditioning coach for Nubability, and he revealed the most rewarding part of his job.

“When we get to see those kids do something that they didn’t think they could do for the first time, it just makes it all worth it,” he said.

And Vinyard said this realization gives the young athletes a sense of empowerment.

“We don’t want them to think that they can’t do something, so we just try to show them that they can and then turn them loose and let them be amazing,” he said.

Kokopelli has hosted both of the foundation’s annual tournament to this point, and the golf club’s general manager Brandon Bierstedt said they wouldn’t miss the chance to help with such a great cause.

Brandon Bierstedt, Kokopelli Golf Club General Manager: “There’s no kid turned away. All the money is great, and you see a lot of success stories out of their programs, and that’s what’s awesome to be a part of,” he said.
