KSP arrests Fulton County woman after pursuit in McCracken County

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – Troopers with Kentucky State Police, Post 1 arrested a woman after a police pursuit in Paducah, Ky.

Late in the afternoon, on july 12, troopers observed a 2015 Nissan Altima recklessly traveling at high sppeeds on Lone Oak Road in Paducah. Troopers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not stop.

A pursuit ensued which led troopers to the area of Baptist Hospital on Broadway Street in Paducah.

Due to the danger posed by the driver’s reckless behavior, troopers conducted a precision intervention technique to immobilize the vehicle.

Following the intervention, the vehicle traveled off the roadway, across the sidewalk, and into the Baptist Hospital parking lot where it collided with a parked 2017 Ford Explorer.

The Ford Explorer was occupied; however, the occupant reported no injuries and denied medical transport.

the driver of the 2015 Nissan Altima was identified as 20-year-old Maiyah Rios of Fulton, KY.

Rios was arrested and taken to Baptist Health for medical treatment, but Rios had no apparent injuries and she refused medical treatment.

Rios was then taken to the McCracken County Jail where she was charged with Speeding 26MPH or more over the Speed Limit, Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Operating on a Suspended Lisence, and numerous other traffic violations.

KSP was assisted by McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, Paducah Police Department, and Paducah Fire Department.
