KSP Post 11 to conduct traffic checkpoints, targeted enforcement across southern Kentucky

KENTUCKY (KBSI) – The Kentucky State Police Post 11 will conduct periodic traffic safety checkpoints across several counties in southern Kentucky.
Post 11, which covers Clay, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley counties, will also carry out targeted enforcement efforts in high-collision areas, according to a release.
Troopers will use radar, laser and saturation patrols as part of the enforcement operations aimed at improving highway safety and reducing crashes.
Officials said enforcement will focus on violations including seat belt and occupant protection laws, driving under the influence, registration and licensing issues, and motor vehicle equipment violations.
Authorities said all checkpoints and enforcement efforts will be clearly marked and supervised in accordance with agency policy to ensure motorist safety.
A list of approved checkpoint locations will be released by Post 11.
