LYON COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced that KY 295 is now open to traffic at mile point 9.419 on the Crittenden-Lyon County line, following the early completion of a major bridge replacement project.

The Livingston Creek Bridge, which lies between Millie Peek Road in Crittenden County and Joe Peek Road in Lyon County, was closed in March 2024 after a routine inspection revealed structural deficiencies. The bridge had been shut down for safety reasons.

Construction began in late April 2025 after project funding was secured, design work completed, and right-of-way and bidding processes finalized. The work was completed about three weeks ahead of schedule.

Jim Smith Contracting served as the primary contractor for the $1.236 million project, which has been featured in the KYTC District 1 Weekly Roadshow Report.

The section of KY 295 serves an average of 693 vehicles per day, according to KYTC.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office shared the reopening notice via social media Thursday evening.
