KY 654 reopens following bridge replacement in Crittenden County

FOX23 News at 9 p.m.

CRITTENDEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — A section of KY 654 southeast of U.S. 60 at Mattoon reopened to traffic Wednesday morning following a bridge replacement project.

The road had been closed at mile point 4.18 since early June while crews replaced the bridge over Mattoon Creek.

Drivers should use caution because the new bridge deck and approaches are covered with compacted gravel. Paving will be scheduled later and will require another temporary closure.

The $485,000 project was included in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1 Roadshow Report.

About 188 vehicles travel the affected section of KY 654 each day.
