MAYFIELD, Ky. (KBSI) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet scheduled a public information meeting for Wednesday, May 29, at Graves County High School on efforts to enhance safety and traffic flow along the KY 121-Bypass (Dick Castleman Bypass) in Mayfield.

The project runs along the KY 121-Bypass from the KY 80 intersection. It extends northward to the U.S. 45/Paducah Road intersection in Mayfield.

Proposed traffic flow and safety enhancements include a series of four roundabouts at Charles Drive, KY 464/Backusburg Road, KY 58/East Broadway and Andrea Drive.

Douthitt Street and Housman Street would have right-in and right-out access only. The design team also proposes a 10-foot multi-use trail along the 3.5-mile corridor.

KYTC District 1 Chief Engineer Kyle Poat says the meeting will be conducted in an open house format from 4:30-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29. Attendees can stop by the Graves County High School (1220 Eagles Way in Mayfield) meeting site at their convenience.

KYTC engineers, design staff and consultants working on the project will be available to answer questions. A handout will also be provided to make it easy for participants to provide written comments to guide development of the project.

Displays and materials presented Wednesday night will be available for review after the meeting at the KYTC District 1 Office in Paducah by calling 270-898-2431.

Comments may also be submitted by mail before June 22, 2024, to Austin Hart, Branch Manager Project Development, KYTC District 1, 5501 Kentucky Dam Rd, Paducah, Kentucky 42003. All written comments will become part of the official meeting record.
