Large Fire Breaks out in Diehlstadt Mo

DIEHLSTADT, Mo. (KBSI) – Crews in Diehlstadt Missouri work to extinguish a large fire reportedly caused by someone unsupervised burning of trash.

We talked to Fire Chief Jeremy Perrien who tells us the flames engulfed 15 vehicles, a trailer home, a couple of sheds, a huge amount of tires, and several bundles of copper wire.

Chief Perrien says no one was injured by the fire, but the person renting the camper home will have to be displaced from their home for the time being.

We talked to Perrien about the situation and what the difficulties were in putting out the flames and bringing more fire truck in to assist in the efforts.

Perrin says this “was a pretty large event to be this far out from hydrants.” Saying to get others to help responded to a rural area like this “takes time.”

When asked about the fire Perrien says,

“The incident on a dead end street, and it’s, a cluttered up area. so it made operations, difficult. they were they were hindered by the lack of room to get fire trucks in and have proper water shuttle operations. so as far as, that is concerned, you know, that was some obstacles that we had to get figured out.”

Perrien wanted to thank everyone who helped put out the fire, and encourage residents to be aware of your environment when burning anything. Especially when there is a lack of rain in the area.
