Lawless murder still unsolved 31 years later
BENTON, Mo. (KBSI) – Investigators take a moment to remember to honor of a death that still raises questions. Angela Mischelle Lawless was found by officers in her car, parked under the Northbound Exit 80 in Benton, Missouri, 31 years ago, on Wednesday, November 8.
Lawless was 19 years old and had been beaten so badly officers did not know at first, she had been shot to death, until finding the shell casings near the crime scene.
One of those officers, retired Scott City Police Chief, Rick Walter, says he will never give up.
“Well, I’ll never give up whether I’m in law enforcement or not,” said Walter. “I’m still going to, I’m still going to help pursue this and I still get people that will come forward and tell me, give me information. The last time with Josh you knows they thought that they had it and they sent an innocent kid to prison you know we want to make sure that it’s right this time.”
Mischelle Lawless’ case has been reopened and investigators are still searching for her perpetrator.
