Leadership Sikeston explores city government and community services

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) — Members of Leadership Sikeston recently spent a session learning about city government, public services and community development through visits to several local facilities.

The program began with a discussion featuring Sikeston City Council members, the city manager, economic development officials and tourism representatives, who answered questions about leadership and the city’s future.

Participants also toured the Sikeston Municipal Airport to learn about ongoing improvements before visiting Veterans Park to learn about the city’s parks and recreation system.

The class later toured the city’s power plant and heard from Board of Municipal Utilities General Manager Rick Landers during a luncheon presentation.

The day concluded with visits to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety and the Sikeston Depot Museum, where participants learned more about the city’s public safety operations and local history.

Leadership Sikeston is designed to provide participants with an inside look at the organizations, services and leaders that help shape the community.
