SCOTT COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) – A judge on Monday granted a $100,000 surety bond to Leon Lamb, allowing him to be released from custody while awaiting trial.

As a condition of his release, Lamb will be required to wear an ankle monitor and have no contact with witnesses.

The case will be moved to Greene County, Missouri, where Lamb will reside with his sister near Springfield.

Lamb’s attorney, Russ Oliver, expressed satisfaction with the judge’s decision, saying it will allow him to work on the case without Lamb being incarcerated.

Special prosecutor Allen Moss welcomed the change of venue, citing the need for a larger jurisdiction to handle the case.

The trial is expected to last two to three weeks and will require significant resources.

Judge Benjamin Lewis presided over the hearing and denied a motion for a protective order to keep evidence and other materials private.

Oliver had argued against the protective order, saying it would hinder his ability to conduct an independent investigation.
