Light up Southeast Missouri for mental health awareness

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Community Counseling Center Foundation is launching its “Get Your Green On” campaign to promote mental health awareness throughout May.

The foundation encourages everyone to participate by:

— Using green outdoor lighting, landscaping or digital signage.
— Becoming a sponsor of Mental Health Awareness Month by displaying yard signs and feather banners.
— Joining “Wear Green Fridays” throughout May to show solidarity.

According to the Missouri Department of Mental Health’s 2024 Status Report, 26.5% of Missouri adults had some degree of mental illness in the past year, and 21.6% of adolescents experienced a major depressive episode.

The Community Counseling Center Foundation serves Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Madison, Perry and Ste. Genevieve counties, providing vital mental health services to nearly 7,000 individuals last year.
