LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) — The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is increasing patrols, upgrading equipment and expanding community outreach efforts as part of several initiatives implemented since June 1.

Sheriff Gordon outlined the department’s recent accomplishments in a social media post, highlighting increased traffic enforcement, new equipment purchases and additional training for deputies.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies have increased patrols and traffic enforcement throughout the county, with a particular focus on U.S. 60 and Iuka and Dover roads.

The department said the increased enforcement is in response to concerns raised by residents.

Deputies are also working with Livingston County Hospital management to provide additional patrols around the facility.

The sheriff’s office announced it is using a previously awarded $5,800 grant to purchase new handguns for deputies.

Nearly $4,000 in funds seized through criminal activity has also been allocated for new holsters, lights, magazines and ammunition.

The new firearms are expected to be issued in late November.

The Livingston County Fiscal Court and judge-executive also approved the department’s request to purchase new Tasers and body-worn cameras.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies are currently receiving the new Tasers and are expected to begin wearing body cameras in mid- to late November.

The department is also expanding its involvement with local schools, focusing on campus security and finding additional opportunities for deputies to interact with students.

Training efforts have increased beyond state-mandated requirements. The sheriff’s office said its court security team recently completed a tactical medical course with assistance from Rodney and Christy Hall.

The sheriff’s office thanked county officials for supporting the equipment upgrades and said it will continue working with residents and other agencies to improve public safety throughout Livingston County.
