LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam involving callers posing as law enforcement officers.

Sheriff Bobby Davidson said a resident recently reported receiving a call from someone claiming to be with the sheriff’s office. The caller allegedly told the resident they were in contempt of court for failing to report for jury duty and instructed them to come sign paperwork.

The sheriff’s office said the call was a scam and did not originate from the agency.

Officials are reminding residents to be cautious of unsolicited calls requesting personal information or claiming legal action has been taken against them.

Anyone who receives a suspicious call from someone claiming to represent the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is encouraged to hang up and contact the agency directly at 270-928-2122 to verify the information.
