Some cities issue a burn bans, here’s why
PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – A lack of rain and an increase of dry conditions have caused a few cities to go under strict fire bans.
Portageville, Missouri recently issued a “burn ban.” This ban prohibits anyone from burning leaves, wood, or anything that causes fire.
According to George DeLise, Fire Chief of Portageville, accidental fires have caused an increase in call volume.
“If we can try to take our call volume down and the burn ban will do it. It’ll keep us from having accidental fires,” explained DeLise.

Missouri:
Portageville until further notice.
Illinois:
