Local organizations bring clothing and hope to those in need

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Two local nonprofit organizations are joining forces and working together to ensure that every donated dollar and every gently used coat goes even further.
Ellen Holford is a Street Level board member she shares how local organizations working together can make a bigger impact.
Street Level partners with Impact One More clothing closet, Matiss Vitols Vitolins is the Executive Director of Impact One More ministries which runs the clothing closet. The closet is open every fourth Saturday of the Month from 10:00- 4:00 pm or by appointment and free to those in need.
“This is just one part of us stepping out into the community and providing what the community needs, which is clothing and often that gets forgotten” says Vitolins.
Right now, the closet is in need of gently used, and washed donations of all sizes, but they tell me extra-large and bigger is very needed. Vitolins says they ask that clothes are in good enough shape to be worn again and donations can be dropped off at the IOM location located at 937 Broadway, Cape Girardeau, Mo. right next to Street Level.
Holford shares that each donation goes to keeping those facing homelessness warm, helping a mother with clothes for her children and more through organizations simply working together.
“We only service adults at street level so sometimes we get clothing for younger children and so we put it to the side, and we share it with them. So, we kind of just pass clothing” says Holford.
Both organizations are nonprofits and run off donations. They heavily rely on community support help those who are most vulnerable. When temperature’s drop and neighbors are left out in the cold local nonprofits spring into action.
