Longtime Anna commissioner remembered for community service

ANNA, Ill., (KBSI) — Anna Commissioner Martha Ann Webb, who served the city for more than 17 years, has died, the city announced Tuesday.

Webb had served as a commissioner since 2009 and was known for her dedication to residents of Anna and Union County.

Among her accomplishments, Webb brought Wreaths Across America to Union County. The Anna City Cemetery became the county’s first cemetery to participate in the program, and Webb worked to ensure that each veteran received a wreath every year. She also encouraged other cemeteries to participate.

Webb also created the Annabelle Trail as part of the Annabelle Festival.

“Her passions, accomplishments and dedication to Anna and Union County are too vast to sum up in one post,” the city said in its announcement.

Funeral arrangements were not immediately announced.
