Lutheran Family and Children’s Services will recognize Mental Health Awareness Month with free event in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI)- In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Lutheran Family and Children’s Services (LFCS) will hold a Let’s Taco ‘Bout It event from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the Cape Girardeau Public Library at 711 Clark Street.

The free event is open to the public and offers a casual and informative atmosphere.

It features a presentation on mental health, and well-being while attendees can enjoy a complimentary lunch provided by Seis Express.

They will also learn valuable tips and resources to support their mental health and that of their loved ones.

“Mental health is just as important as physical health, and it is crucial to have an open conversation about it,” said Tammy Hargis, Behavioral Health Supervisor for LFCS Cape Girardeau. “Our Let’s Taco Bout It event provides a welcoming space for the Cape Girardeau community to connect, ask questions, and learn more about our behavioral health services.”

With the support of the Cape Mental Health Board and the United Way of Southeast Missouri, LFCS mental health services include individual counseling for children and adults, family counseling, play therapy, and parent education.

Based on a sliding fee scale, behavioral health services for children and adults are available at little or no cost.

LFCS also provides telehealth services for those without transportation.
