MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) — The Special Operations Division of the Madison County Fire Department conducted a missing person search training exercise this week to enhance coordination and operational readiness.
Officials said crews practiced the full response process, from initial dispatch and command setup to search tactics and victim location.
Personnel operated from the department’s Command Bus to establish incident command, manage resources and coordinate field operations. Ground teams conducted systematic search patterns, while the department’s drone team focused on aerial search and imaging to improve coverage and situational awareness.
Fire officials said missing person incidents are time-sensitive and that comprehensive training helps reduce response time, streamline communication and improve overall effectiveness.
The department said the exercise reinforces team roles and prepares crews to respond quickly and efficiently during real-world emergencies.
