Major explosion in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, KY (KBSI) — A manufacturing plant exploded Tuesday around 3 p.m.
Neighbors reported the large explosion saying they felt the ground shake underneath their feet.
When fire crews arrived there were no flames, but part of the building had collapsed. The nearby neighborhood was immediately evacuated, and a shelter-in-place order was enacted.
Both the evacuation and shelter-in-place orders have been lifted, but officials have asked the public to stay away from the area as the investigation begins.
Louisville Fire Department Captain tells FOX23 news he thinks it was an ammonia leak.
“There was reports of issues of ammonia leak. crews were able to rescue one victim from inside of the collapsed home. The employees were able to self-evacuate or help, with assistance from the property manager. All in all, in all, we did, send 11 people to the hospital with those, injuries.” He said.
Louisville Fire Department says they have no reason to believe this explosion was intentional.
