Man accused of 43 storage unit burglaries in Farley, KY

FARLEY, Ky. (KBSI) – A man faces dozens of counts of burglary after deputies from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office say he burglarized storage units.

Jessie F. Cross, 46, of Harlan County faces 43 counts of burglary 3rd degree, one count of fleeing or evading police 2nd degree (on foot) and criminal mischief 2nd degree.

In August and September of 2023 McCracken County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated burglaries and vandalism at Stone Creek Storage Units in Farley.

The investigation found 43 storage units were burglarized.

On Friday, September 22 at 9:30 p.m. there were reports of someone on the Stone Creek Storage Units property burglarizing multiple units, according to Chief Deputy Ryan Willcutt with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

Corporal Brad Lamb and his partner, K9 Vegas, arrived along with other deputies. Upon seeing law enforcement the suspect ran from the property into a corn field, according to Willcutt.

K9 Vegas tracked the suspect approximately one mile through the corn field. The suspect refused to obey commands, tried to flee and K9 Vegas was able to find him and assist deputies in taking him into custody, according to Willcutt.

Cross had two active warrants for his arrest and had ran from the Paducah Half-Way House.
