Man accused of buglarizing vehicles at Ameren CIPS in Marion, IL

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces a burglary charge after police were called about a burglary in progress at Ameren CIPS in Marion, Ill.

Scott O. Swanson, 35, faces a burglary charge.

Marion Police officers responded to Ameren CIPS in the 1800 block of W. Main Street for a “burglary in progress” on December 26.

Responding officers established a perimeter. While canvassing for the suspect, they discovered tools and discarded clothing. Officers determined that the ground close to these items had been disturbed, leading them through a ditch to a wooded area.

Officers found Swanson and arrested him.

They found that several vehicles on the Ameren property had been entered and rummaged through. All stolen property was recovered.

Officers obtained a recorded confession from Swanson, according to the Marion Police Department.

Swanson was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
